Into the New Year - recap and highlights of 2015

Well, it was my sincere intention to post a New Years post before the new year actually started. But sincere intentions don't always turn into reality, unfortunately. It is now already almost the end of the year (yikes) and I am only just getting to my new years post. But it is HERE.

I've thought a good deal about this last year and what all has progressed since January 1, 2015 to January 1, 2016. It was an immensely eventful, trying, long, growing, daring kind of year. I dared myself in many ways I never thought I would. I didn't shy back from the challenges, the unknown, or the pain.

My word for 2016 has been: breathe

More than anything, I've realized in 2015 that I did a lot of rushing and running around, and I seemed to constantly stay busy. And I spent a whole lot less time just being still and breathing. I left myself very little time to appreciate the little things, and the quiet moments of the day; The early morning sunsets, the gentle breeze on your face in the late afternoon, the stars shining so steadfastly every night, the kind smile of a stranger or that little flower blooming in the middle of a concrete jungle. My mind was always occupied with school or work or people or anything, and it rarely had the time to quiet itself and allow me the time to just sit there and breathe.

This year, I've embraced just breathing and living. It's been a slow process, and you'll hear more about it in my 2016 New Years post.

BLOG: From the Ashes, by sister's legit blog

TEA: Green Tea with Mint.

BOOK: Crazy Busy: A (Mercifully) Short Book About a (Really) Big Problem by Kevin DeYoung. Cannot tell you how much this book has changed my life.

PHOTOGRAPHY ITEM(s): Got a new camera, 3 new lenses, and a legit backpack to carry all of it in. I got all this in preparation for my trip to England and Scotland, as I very well couldn't have gone to said countries without the appropriate equipment to document my trip.

MEMORY: My time in Scotland combined some of my favorite memories of 2015. The wild, raw, authentic beauty of Scotland. The rich culture, and meeting new people, and eating delicious food. The history, made up of castles, old houses, and Scottish landmarks. Oh, all of it, just spectacular and life changing. I am determined to go back to Scotland in the not too distant future.
