joy comes in the morning - Formerly List

"...weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning." -Psalm 30:5b

These last two months have been decently rough for me. All the normal unfortunates of being a full-time college student with full-time jobs, such as little to no sleep, not much of a social life, stress, exhaustion, and ... well, you get the picture. But on top of it, I was faced with a few challenges that really stretched and grew me as an individual. Challenges that, while I was going through them, I couldn't see an end to. The kind of dark tunnels you can't see the light at the end of. There were times that felt like hell, and times I absolutely hated myself because I failed or made a mistake. But through the dark and the utter despair, God was teaching me things about Himself and about His love and grace. And when my dark nights were over, the sun at last shone bright.

I'm currently pulling an all-nighter as I type this out. And I have to open Chick-fil-A in less than an hour. But even with no sleep behind me, and the daunting prospect of a 10 hour shift surrounded by people ahead of me ... I have much peace and joy in what will come. For even though I'll be surrounded by people and be pushed out of my comfort zone, I look forward to brightening someone's day or making someone smile because I have the privilege of serving them dang good chicken.

Your pain, your sorrow, your despair or depression may seem to last for nights and nights. But I promise you that joy will come in the morning. He hasn't forgotten about you. You are precious in His sight.
