to expand the mind | The Books of 2015

I had originally set an ambitious goal of reading 50 books in the year 2015. Well, I ended up only reading 20. Not quite half of my goal, but certainly more than I thought based on the busyness of my year. I do hate being too busy to read books. One simply can't be too busy to read books. That shouldn't ever be a thing.

Regardless, it happened to me last year (the busy part, that is). But I am thankful to have read as many books as I did. And for the record, I started a fair amount of really interesting books throughout the year but just never got around to finishing them (2016 goal!).

Below is a list of the various books I read throughout the year of 2015. There's a mix of textbooks, biographies, inspirational pieces and mysteries, all organized in alphabetical order by category and then by title:

Assignment Churchill (Walter Henry Thompson)
Churchill (Roy Jenkins)
Forty Ways to Look at Winston Churchill: A Brief Account of a Long Life (Gretchen Rubin)
The Sorrow of War: A Novel of North Vietnam (Bảo Ninh)
Things Fall Apart (The African Trilogy, #1) (Chinua Achebe)
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows)
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (Chronicles of Narnia, #2) (C.S. Lewis)

Black Coffee (Agatha Christie)
Lord Arthur Savile's Crime (Oscar Wilde)
Partners in Crime (Agatha Christie)
Sleeping Murder (Miss Marple, #13) (Agatha Christie)
The Black Abbot (Edgar Wallace)
The Murder of Roger Ackroyd (Agatha Christie)
The Unpleasantness at the Bellona Club (Dorothy L. Sayers)

Principles of Comparative Politics (Gregory S. Mahler)
Understanding Politics: Ideas, Institutions, and Issues (Thomas Magstadt)

Inquiring After God: Classic and Contemporary Readings (Charry)
The Abolition of Man (C.S. Lewis)
The Lost Tools of Learning (Dorothy L. Sayers)
Thinking. Loving. Doing.: A Call to Glorify God with Heart and Mind (John Piper)

You can tell I have an affinity for books of the mystery genre. I am excited for the books to be read this new year.

What are some of the books you read in 2015? Have any books you are looking forward to reading this year?
