less about me, and the art of numbers

As of late (about the last 1 1/2 years), I've become a bit of a stats junkie. I am sort of obsessed with numbers and statistics, and how they correlate with real life events. I don't like math, in most cases, but I am a huge fan of numbers.

Numbers are concrete, factual evidence that can be used to convey or explain analytics, market values, rate of return,  percentages in sales or increased social media followership. They're tangible evidence of change, to put it frankly. And I rather like them.

Well, in light of my love of numbers I've decided to add a new category to the blog called Logic. This category will contain statistics, graphics and charts, the study of logic and reason itself, and really all things logic related (although technically speaking, my entire blog is based on logic. But that's beside the point).

To begin, I did a study on the most words used on my blog throughout it's existence, and would you believe "my" is the most used word as to date? To note, I am not sure how accurate this data is nor if the process pulled words from my entire blog or just a certain number of posts.

But according the the date retrieved, these are some of the top words:

My- 180x
All - 126x
Do - 67x
Book- 59x
Life - 46x
Read - 43x
Work - 40x
Know - 38x
Make - 32x
Courage - 18x

Upon further analysis, I think the words pulled up for the graphic above correlate with the words in my most popular posts on my blog. But I am glad to see that among the most used words, action words take a prevalent place. If you know me at all, you'll know I live by action; do, be, fight, dream, live, and so forth.

Furthermore, the data I retrieved also got me thinking about what I'm writing about and what I actually want to write about. Among many words, History, logic, courage, adventure, inspiration, joy, passion, drive, and bold are all words I want to be found more in my writing. Me, my, or other related words I'd definitely like to see less of. My life isn't about me. I don't live to see what I can make of Charity, although my life is a daily working of how Charity can truly grow. But I live for His glory, and to care and fight for the orphan, the widow, and the oppressed, to live vibrantly by embracing the glorious, the lovely, the brave, and to live by courageously taking on the next adventure. My life is not my own, and for that very reason I don't want me, my, or I to continually come up in my writing.

So to end, numbers are both decidedly practical and also capable of giving us an idea of what's working and what needs to be changed. And in most cases, change is good.

So here's to many more posts on numbers and logic, less writing about me, and boldly living!

P.S. If there are specific analysis posts you'd like to see, or my findings/research on a certain matter, do let me know and I'd be more than happy to try my hand at it.
